Dubai's festival dedicated to Arab alternative artists has been postponed by a month. Wasla 2019 was supposed to run on March 1, but will now return to the UAE on April 5.

This iteration of the much-loved music event, which debuted in 2017, will feature renowned acts from the Arab world, including Massar Egbari, Mashrou' Leila and 47Soul, which introduced a new music genre, "shamstep", to the world.

Since the original line-up was announced, two more acts have also been added.

This includes Egyptian rockers Cairokee, who are known for offering stellar live performances, and Jordanian rock band El Morabba3, an Amman-based trio who are known for their Arabic and indie style of music that combines haunting vocals with ambient guitar and intense melodies.

Lebanon's Mashrou' Leila are also set to drop their new album at the event.

Festivities will kick off at Burj Park, Downtown Dubai at 11am and run until 11pm.

Amr Ramadan, Wasla co-founder and project director, said: "This year’s festival will see Wasla broaden its horizons to demonstrate the brilliance of alternative Arabic music, culture and art to the wider world.

"We have expanded the scope of the event to cater to a larger and more diverse audience while still using the power of music to spread a positive message and provide a true celebration of creativity.”

Early-bird tickets are now available at www.ticketmaster.ae for Dh195.
