British electronica act Underworld are set to headline February's Groove on the Grass.

The 90s underground techno band shot to fame after their smash hit Born Slippy (Nuxx) was featured in film Trainspotting in 1996, soundtracking the film's iconic final scenes where Ewan McGregor's Renton flees with his friends' cash.

That film’s rousing “Mega mega white thing” refrain rapidly became the soundtrack to a generation, and propelled Underworld to headline slots at some of the world’s biggest festivals, where they proved themselves a scintillating live act as well as talented producers.

The band, now made up of Welsh duo Karl Hyde and Rick Smith since the departure of DJ Darren Emerson, are still known for their dynamic performances, and even made it into the opening ceremony at the 2012 Olympics in London.

Groove on the Grass, now in its seventh season, will be held on February 8 at Emirates Golf Club.

Further line-up announcements would be made in the coming weeks.

Early bird tickets are available now from Dh225, and can be purchased from dubai.platinumlist.net
