The Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan was released from a Mumbai hospital on Thursday after a two-week stay recovering from surgery.
Local TV channels broadcast video footage of the 69-year-old actor walking out of the hospital, a shawl wrapped around his shoulders. He waved to onlookers before getting into a car.
"Am back home in familiar surroundings, gently taking in all that now engulfs me," Bachchan wrote on his blog. "The surgery discomfort and soreness persists, but in all, apart from a sluggish movement, back on track again."
The actor had been blogging and tweeting regularly from his hospital bed after undergoing surgery on February 11.
Lebanese star is Arab Idol fan
The Lebanese songstress Nawal Al Zoghby described the Emirati singer and Arab Idol judge Ahlam as "daring" and "courageous".
As a guest on Saturday night's episode of Arab Idol, Al Zoghby paid her tributes to the judging panel but focused most of her comments on Ahlam.
"I love Ahlam's daring, when she demands from the audience for them to vote for a specific contestant, she's so bold," said Al Zoghby.
Al Zoghby admitted she's a fan of the show and strives never to miss an episode.
The contestants sang a medley of her songs on Saturday evening, before waiting to hear which of the six will be voted off. By the end of the evening, the Tunisian contestant Hasan Khirbaash was eliminated. He never stopped smiling, even when tears streamed down his face as he bid the audience goodbye.
Russell Peters returns to the UAE
The superstar Canadian comic is returning to the UAE for two performances of his brand-new show in Abu Dhabi and Dubai next month. The Notorious World Tour will land in Dubai's World Trade Center on March 20 with the Abu Dhabi show at the Flash Forum on March 22.
Tagging along will be the guest comedian Ruben Paul and the hip-hop DJ Spinbad.

Adam Sandler sets Razzie record
Adam Sandler received a record 11 nominations on Saturday for the Razzies – an Oscars spoof that singles out the worst movies of the year – as the star, producer and writer of Jack and Jill, Just Go with It and Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star.
For worst actor, Sandler is up against the Bucky Larson star Nick Swardson, along with Russell Brand for Arthur; Nicolas Cage for Drive Angry, Season of the Witch and Trespass and Taylor Lautner for Abduction and Breaking Dawn.
For worst actress, Sandler is joined by Martin Lawrence in Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son; Sarah Palin for her documentary The Undefeated; Sarah Jessica Parker for I Don't Know How She Does It and New Year's Eve and Kristen Stewart for Breaking Dawn.
Winners will be announced on April Fool's Day.
Actor Gerard Butler out of rehab
Gerard Butler has completed treatment for substance abuse issues, his representative confirmed to People magazine.
"Gerard has completed a successful course of treatment and has returned home in good health," his spokesman said.
TMZ reported the 42-year-old actor checked into the Betty Ford rehab centre three weeks ago due to addiction to prescription drugs following injuries caused by a surfing accident in December, on the set of his latest film Of Men and Mavericks.
Paula Deen to lighten up cooking
A month after being widely criticised for revealing she has diabetes three years after her diagnosis – as well as a lucrative endorsement deal for a drug to treat it – Paula Deen says she's ready to show a lighter side to her famously fatty Southern-style cooking.
"What I will be doing is offering up lighter versions of my recipes," the Food Network star told the Associated Press on Friday. "I will be trying to do something for everybody."
The 65-year-old addressed criticism she drew after appearing to wait until she had a paying endorsement before revealing her diagnosis.
"Yes, I am being compensated," she said. "It's the way of the world."
Taylor Swift asks teenager to country music awards
Taylor Swift has a date for the Academy of Country Music awards: Kevin McGuire, an 18-year-old fan with leukaemia.
McGuire's sister had started a campaign on Facebook to get Swift to go with him to his prom. Swift wrote in a Facebook post of her own that she can't make it to the prom, but that she'd like McGuire to accompany her to the awards ceremony on April 1 in Las Vegas.
