50 Cent returning to Dubai in October
The American rapper 50 Cent will headline the next instalment of the Atelier Festival at Dubai's Meydan Racecourse on October 19. According to the event's promoters, the Alchemy Project based in Dubai, 50 Cent is the first of six high-profile artists coming for the one-day music event. The festival comes on the heels of its successful debut in April, when 16,000 fans watched the likes of Leona Lewis and Jay Sean. "The line-up for this festival is even stronger due to the popularity of the artists we have," said Mac Far, the chairman of Alchemy Project. The complete line-up, as well as ticketing information, are expected to be released by the end of the month. - Saeed Saeed

The Office to end its run next season
Producer Greg Daniels says the NBC comedy The Office will conclude business after its forthcoming ninth season. He said the final year will take creative chances and will reveal who's been making the mock documentary that has provided the show with its format. "I think endings can be very powerful," he said. Daniels hopes Steve Carell, who left last year, will reprise his role as the socially inept boss. The Office was adapted from its British predecessor and premiered in March 2005. It is NBC's highest-rated scripted series. - AP

HBO will produce Christopher Guest show
HBO has picked up a new series, Family Tree, created by the actor Christopher Guest. The comedy will adopt a documentary format and star Chris O'Dowd as a 30-year-old on a journey of personal discovery. Madonna drops swastika from concert
Madonna dropped from her last concert in Europe on Tuesday a swastika that outraged France's right-wing party, but again demanded the freedom of three members of the jailed Russian punk band Pussy Riot. The video that accompanied her performance in Nice of Nobody Knows Me still showed the National Front leader Marine Le Pen, but a question mark replaced the swastika that had previously flashed on the politician's forehead. The appearance of the Nazi symbol at Madonna's Paris performance last month enraged the party, which launched legal action against the 54-year-old singer. The members of Pussy Riot were jailed by the Russian courts this month for criticising President Vladimir Putin. "Free Pussy Riot," Madonna shouted from the stage.- AFP
