Muhammad Islam Rameh won the third season of The Voice Kids: Ahla Sawt, under the mentorship of Lebanese pop star Nancy Ajram.

The 11-year-old Syrian emerged victorious on Saturday, March 7 – on the back of a public vote – from six finalist hailing from Lebanon, Morocco and Egypt to win a recording contract with Platinum Records, which is headquartered in Dubai Media City.

The competition was beamed live on the Pan Arab broadcaster MBC from its studios in Beirut, where a packed Lebanese audience were thoroughly entertained by a range of amazing voices by young talent spanning the Arab world.

Like the previous two seasons, the finalists made their way to the ultimate round on the back of singing elegant and complex ballads.

Rameh wowed the audience with sterling renditions of Egyptian diva Um Kulthum's Alf Layla Wa Layla, before following it up with Ya Assel by Tunisian singer Saber Rebai.

Other runner ups, Egypt's Yasmeen Osama and Moroccan Mohamed Wakdid (both coached by Egyptian singer Mohammed Hamaki) turned heads with impressive takes off Abdul Halim Hafiz's Kamel El Awsaf and Um Kulthum's Ana fi Intizarak, respectively.

When it comes to the finalists from Lebanese singer Assi El Helani's stable of young talent, it was fellow national Mohammed Ibrahim that shined with his soaring performance of Melhem Zain's Mamnounak Anna.

Speaking to the audience and millions of viewers moments after winning the trophy, Rameh thanked his coach Ajram for “believing in my talent and my voice and bringing me here to win the competition.”

Rameh’s victory will undoubtedly be a source of personal satisfaction for Ajram, after what has been a traumatic start to the year.

Ajram made international headlines in January after she and her children experienced an alleged attempted home burglary in Beirut. The assailant was shot and killed by her celebrity dentist Fadi Al Hashim, who is presently under investigation by the Lebanese authorities.
