Sukhwinder Singh returns to the UAE on Friday after three years to perform with his fellow playback singer Alka Yagnik.

Singh is best-known for his performance of the Academy Award-winning song Jai Ho (2010),composed by A R Rahman for the movie Slumdog Millionaire. Yagnik is as popular for her classical singing as she is for her work in Bollywood, and is a seven-time winner of the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer. The two will headline Taal, a concert organised by Ccreanss Communication.

“This is the first time that Alka and I will perform together,” said Singh. “I will be in Dubai after almost three years and with a totally new look and sound. It will be a performance not to be missed.”

When asked which songs he plans to sing, Singh said: "I only decide on the opening song. After that, the set is based on the reaction I get from the audience. This is a live show, so it should be interactive." Singh said he will open with an A?R Rahman tune from the forthcoming film Raanjhanaa.

Taal is on Friday at 9.30pm at Sheikh Rashid Hall, Dubai World Trade Centre. Tickets cost from Dh100. Call 050 225 4010 or email info@ccreanss.me
