Sami Yusuf to play one-night-only show in Abu Dhabi

The award-winning singer will perform as part of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Festival

He has been dubbed “Islam’s biggest rock star”, and now fans will be able to see Sami Yusuf perform live in the UAE.

Even better news? You won't have to wait too long. The award-winning singer will hold a concert at Abu Dhabi's Emirates Palace later this month, as part of the second Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Festival.

The 38-year-old British songwriter and instrumentalist will perform on April 25 as part of the event, which will be held in the capital between April 24 and 27.

Yusuf, who also acts as a UN global ambassador for the World Food Programme, will "spread the festival message of tolerance and unity and celebrate the beauty of cultural diversity", an announcement revealing his performance stated.

The singer, who has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide since the release of 2003 debut Al Muallim, most recently launched six-song EP SAMi in December, and also boasts hits such as Hasbi Rabbi and Mast Qalandar.

Tickets for Yusuf's show cost Dh100, and are available from www.ticketmaster.ae/event/7809.

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Festival, which is held under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, the UAE's Minister of Tolerance, will also feature seminars, traditional dance and arts performances, and workshops over its four-day programme.

Held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), the festival is free to enter, with an itinerary designed to "highlight the inherent positivity of Islam and promote global awareness of Islamic culture".
