Salman Khan's wax figure coming to New York

Salman Khan will join fellow stars Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan in the Bollywood Zone of wax figures at Madame Tussauds in New York. Khan's figure will be installed on Thursday. "Salman Khan is one of Bollywood's most enduring and recognisable stars," said the museum's manager Bret Pidgeon. "Bollywood exploded on the American pop culture scene several years ago and has become one of our most exciting entertainment categories." * IANS

Richa Chadha to model at Lakme Fashion Week

Richa Chadha, who is on cloud nine with the success of Gangs of Wasseypur, will grace the runway of Lakme Fashion Week, which begins on Friday. The actress will walk for the designer Debarun Mukherjee. "Richa is fuss-free and free-spirited. She loves experimenting with her looks and that's why I think she perfectly suits my design sensibility," said Mukherjee, who will present a collection titled "Omnipresent", featuring saris, layered skirts and high-collared tops. * IANS

Farah Khan hunts for female lead

The filmmaker Farah Khan says she has yet to cast the lead actress for her next movie, Happy New Year. "We start shooting in December but I don't know who the girl is yet," she said. "Shah Rukh Khan and Boman Irani are finalised." Parineeti Chopra and Sonakshi Sinha are reportedly being considered for the role. "I meet Sonakshi regularly. She is very beautiful, but we have not made a call yet," said Khan. * IANS

Kareena Kapoor gears up for film release

Kareena Kapoor has begun the promotional rounds for her new film Heroine, directed by Madhur Bhandarkar and scheduled for a September 21 release in India. "My journey as a lead actress is completed with this film, though I'm very different from my character, who is eccentric, edgy and over emotional. I deal with situations differently." Heroine revolves around the life of an actress whose career is on the decline. * IANS

Saahil Prem in search of debut film's title

The debutant actor-director Saahil Prem has taken the social networking route to hunt for an apt title for his dance film, tentatively called Someday. "The film was made for the youth so we thought why not leave it to them?" said Prem, who is also the film's lead. Fans can log on to Someday's Facebook page to submit entries. The winner will receive a cash prize and a credit in the movie. * IANS
