ABU DHABI // Global superstar Rihanna is bringing her Diamonds World Tour to Abu Dhabi.

The 25-year-old singer will perform at the du Arena on Saturday, October 19 and tickets will go on sale on Thursday, May 9, at midday at www.ticketmaster.ae.

The concert will be an all-standing event.

Promoting her seventh album, "Unapologetic", the latest jaunt is the singer's fifth major world tour and her most elaborate yet.

With the tour already begun – the opening date was March 8 in the American city of Buffalo – Rihanna was seen wearing a range of specially tailored fashion wear and apparel including parkas, silk shirts and a gilded shark tooth necklace engraved with her moniker "RiRi".

The costumes were designed with input from a wide range of big-name fashion designers including Raf Simons and Riccardo Tisci with material supplied by premier fashion houses including Christian Dior and Givenchy.

Earlier this year, Rihanna hosted a behind-the-scenes video on her official YouTube channel.

Costume builder Marley Glassroth explained that the show plays with different fashion themes to incorporate Rihanna's various sounds including pop, hip-hop and rock'n'roll.  "It's gonna be the dopest show ever," he said.

As for the music, judging by the 26 dates already played across America the performance consists of more than 20 songs spread over five acts and includes the hits "Diamonds", "Umbrella" and "Rockstar 101" in addition to selected tracks from "Unapologetic".

Born Robyn Rihanna Fenty,the star from Saint Michael in Barbados has sold 41 million albums and has won six Grammys.

Ticket prices will start from Dh250, with a limited quantity of Early Bird tickets available. Full ticket packages will be announced next week.
