Reports: Son of Nigerian singer D'banj drowns
Nigerian musician D’banj appeared to confirm today that his 13-month-old son, Daniel Oyebanjo III, has drowned.
Following widespread reports of the child’s death, D’banj, whose real name is Ag Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, posted a pitch-black image on his Instagram account, writing: “Trying times. But my God is always and forever faithful.”
It is understood that the child drowned at the singer’s house in Lagos, Nigeria, on Sunday afternoon (June 24).
Dozens of messages of support have since been posted on social media.
D’banj, who won the Artist of the Year award at the MTV Africa Music Awards in 2009, was once signed to Kanye West’s GOOD Music record label after a chance meeting between the pair at Dubai airport in 2010.
Fellow musician Don Jazzy also shared an all-black photo on Instagram, with the caption: "Just heard the worst news in a long time."
D’banj released his fourth studio album, King Don Come, last year.
