Reformed Spice Girls really, really want to change off-key lyrics
It has been more than a decade since the group toured together but they are reportedly considering some lyrical changes
It’s been over 20 years since the Spice Girls' Spice Up Your Life was Number 1 in the charts and the world has moved on since then.
The girl group announced they would be staging a UK comeback tour in 2019 (minus Victoria Beckham) in what will be their first tour in a decade. However, with the changing times, the Spice Girls may also be considering changing some of their lyrics.
It’s been reported that, back then, Spice Girls Melanie C and Melanie B butted heads over the lyrics “Yellow man in Timbuktu / Colour for both me and you / Kung Fu Fighting, dancing queen, tribal spaceman, and all that’s in between.”
Mel C wanted to change the words to “happy people” but wasn’t successful. However, this may change when it comes time to tour.
It seems that the group may also be considering other lyrical changes to songs such as 2 Become 1 and Last Time Lover because of the #MeToo era.
The group last reunited for a performance at the 2012 London Olympics. The Spice Girls are due to start their UK tour on May 29 at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.
