50 Cent to launch headphones in UAE

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson is looking forward to the GITEX Technology Week. The rapper is set to appear at the event for the Middle East launch of his headphones brand, Street by 50. As well as plugging the new cans, Jackson says he's eager to stretch his consumer muscle across the country. "I'm looking forward to coming. There are a lot of high-end things there in the UAE - the money is there. There are certain products I will not find anywhere else," he said. GITEX Technology Week will be held from October 14-18 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Witherspoon welcomes third baby

Reese Witherspoon has given birth to her third child, naming him after a place close to her heart. Her publicist announced on Thursday: "Reese and husband Jim Toth welcomed Tennessee James into their family today. Both mum and baby are healthy and the entire family is thrilled." The 36-year-old star lived in Tennessee when she was young. Witherspoon is already a mum to Ava, 13, and Deacon, 8, from her prior marriage to Ryan Phillippe. Toth is a talent agent. * AP

Lil Wayne tops Presley's record

Lil Wayne is not only making rap history, he's making rock 'n' roll history: the rapper has surpassed Elvis Presley as the man with the most entries on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. On Thursday, the rapper's 30th birthday, Lil Wayne had 109 songs on the chart, with the debut of his collaborative song Celebration. Presley totalled 108 songs on the Hot 100 since it launched in 1958. * AP

Pink Panther star Herbert Lom dies

The Czech-born actor Herbert Lom, known best for his roles in the Pink Panther films, died on Thursday at age 95. Lom, who appeared in more than 100 films, often played villains and was most famous for his role as the irritable police chief Charles Dreyfus in the Pink Panther movies, starring opposite Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau. In a career spanning six decades, Lom also played in classics including Spartacus, El Cid and The Ladykillers. * AFP

Actor dies in murder mystery

A 28-year-old American actor was found dead after allegedly killing an 81-year-old woman on Thursday. Johnny Lewis, a former boyfriend of the singer Katy Perry and known for his role in the TV series Sons of Anarchy, either jumped or fell to his death after attacking the woman at her Los Angeles house. The woman was later identified as Catherine Davis, who rented rooms to boarders. "It appears that some type of altercation occurred inside the house resulting in the death of the woman," said the police. Lewis's big-screen credits include The Runaways (2010), Magic Valley (2011) and 186 Dollars to Get Out, completed this year but not yet released. * AFP
