Ever line-danced on a luxury ship?

Well, now's your chance as the QE2, Dubai's first floating historic hotel, will  host a country music festival from October 24 to 26 at its theatre.

In addition to the achy-breaky-heart tunes, there will be events for the family where you can practise a variety of country dances. Tickets can be bought from www.theatrebyqe2.com, with prices starting at Dh180.

The son of a legend

Headlining the proceedings will be none other than Peter Donegan.

If you haven't heard of the British artist, you may know his father, the late Lonni Donegan, a singer who has been called the King of Skiffle.

The genre is defined by its scrappy amalgam of jazz, soul and blues, and has influenced several rock groups and artists, including Jack White.

Though the younger Donegan might have been inspired by his father's musicality, he has also forged his own path as a country and folk music artist.

Donegan went on  tour in the UK and appeared in the latest season of The Voice UK, where he was mentored by Tom Jones.

Incidentally, Donegan's father co-penned a song for Jones in 1967 called I'll Never Fall in Love Again.

Jones and the younger Donegan performed the song together in an episode that was aired in January.
