A poll shows more Americans are favoring Christmas carols over recent Billboard hits, while longtime classics and recent comedies are the most preferred to watch during the holiday season. Mariah Carey has shared her excitement ahead of her upcoming performance in Dubai.

The star will be in the UAE next week to officially start the one-year countdown to Expo 2020 Dubai, with a special concert in Burj Park.

Sharing a video with her 21.3 million Twitter followers, she said, ”I will be coming to Dubai next week, on October 20 for the countdown celebrations for Expo 2020. Can’t wait to be there and perform live from Dubai.”

Joining Carey for the special free concert will be Emirati star Hussain Al Jassmi. Tickets for the event have now sold out, but it was announced earlier this week that the concert would be streamed at a number of venues across the UAE including Louvre Abu Dhabi, Sharjah's Al Majaz Waterfront, Ajman Museum, Fujairah Fort, Ras Al Khaimah's Al Qawasim Corniche and the Umm Al Quwain Corniche.

As well as the live broadcast of the Dubai show, there will be entertainment at all six venues from 5pm until 10pm on the day.

Catch performances from regional musicians, who will act as live support acts to the main streamed event. At Louvre Abu Dhabi, enjoy live performances from Layla Kardan, Sandra Sahi and Stephon LaMar; the Al Majaz Waterfront is set to feature Clarita de Quiroz, ROOH and Benna Duo and Ajman Museum will see Hydyy Brown, Arqam 'Chakram' Al Abri and Igor 'Bu Oleg' Ivanovic perform.

Expo 2020 Dubai will open on October 20, 2020 and run for six months, finishing on April 10, 2021.
