Macy Gray to perform in Dubai
Macy Gray is returning to Dubai in December. After wowing crowds with a headline set at the 2010 Dubai Jazz Festival, the British soul singer is returning for a more intimate set at Dubai's Irish Village on December 6. The Grammy winner will play a wide selection from her six albums including the international hit I Try, as well as few select covers from last year's Covered album, featuring her take on eclectic artists from Metallica to Radiohead. Daughtry headlines Gulf Bike Week
The rock and heavy metal bands Daughtry, Razorlight and Megadeth are performing for Gulf Bike Week, the Middle East's largest dedicated bike exhibition, to be held on October 18-20 at Dubai Festival City. Green Day singer getting treatment
Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong is headed to treatment for substance abuse. The announcement comes after the 40-year-old frontman had a meltdown onstage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Friday. As Green Day was wrapping up its performance during the all-star concert, Armstrong profanely complained that the band's time was being cut short for the next performer, Usher. "You're gonna give me ... one minute? I'm not ... Justin Bieber!" he yelled then smashed his guitar before leaving the stage. The Grammy-winning band, who have cancelled forthcoming appearances, are due to release their new album ¡Uno! today. * AP
Bono to receive Mexico's highest award
Mexico will bestow the Order of the Aztec Eagle, the highest decoration awarded to foreigners, on the U2 singer Bono in recognition of his humanitarian work. President Felipe Calderón may deliver the medal to the Irish star during his visit to New York this week for the United Nations General Assembly. Calderón met with Bono at the presidential residence of Los Pinos last year to thank the singer for expressing solidarity with Mexico over the country's drug violence during a concert in the capital. "Mexico needs to know you are not alone and we are with you. You are not alone in the darkness," Bono told the audience. * AFP
Vaughn, Wilson filming comedy at Google
The Wedding Crashers duo Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are reuniting in the forthcoming film Interns, as a pair of newly jobless forty-somethings who decide to start fresh as interns in Silicone Valley. Google has granted the movie's producers use of its Mountain View headquarters, which will serve as a set for the film's shoot this week, with the tech giant's actual employees to double as extras. Google's executive chairman Eric Schmidt is even reportedly making a cameo.
