September 21 1972

William John Paul "Liam" Gallagher is born in Burnage, Greater Manchester

August 18 1991

Oasis play their first live gig at the Boardwalk club in Manchester


The band are spotted by label boss Alan McGee, who signs them for Creation Records

April 11 1994

Oasis release their debut single, Supersonic, which peaks at 31 in the UK singles chart before reaching number 11 on the US Billboard Modern Rock tracks chart.

August 1994

Oasis release their first album, Definitely Maybe, through Creation Records. The record went straight to pole position in the UK album charts. The fastest selling debut album of all time in the UK when it was released, Definitely Maybe went on to be certified as a 7× Platinum (2.1 million+) sales.

Oasis tour the US for the first time

April 1995

Oasis get their first chart No 1 with the single, Some Might Say

August 1995

Oasis and Blur go head-to-head in the Battle of Britpop incident as the bands release their singles, Roll with It and Country House on the same day. Blur won, selling 274,000 copies of Country House in comparison to Oasis' 216,000 as the songs charted at number 1 and number 2 in the UK singles chart.

October 1995

Oasis release their second album, (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? The album sold a record-breaking 347,000 copies in its first week on sale, spent 10 weeks in pole position in the UK albums chart and reached number 4 in the US Billboard 200 chart. In 2016, it was ranked as the UK's fifth best-selling album of all time thanks to more than 4.7 million sales.

August 1996

Oasis perform two record-breaking nights at Knebworth in front of a quarter of a million people. One in 20 Britons apply for tickets and Oasis are lauded as the most popular British band since The Beatles.

April 7 1997

Liam Gallagher marries the English actress, singer, model, and former child star Patsy Kensit

August 1997

Oasis release their 3rd album, Be Here Now, which sold 424,000 copies on its first day, becoming the fastest-selling album to that point in British chart history

March 26 1998

The English singer-songwriter, Lisa Moorish, gives birth to a daughter, Molly, who was fathered by Liam Gallagher four months after his marriage to Patsy Kensit

February 2000

Oasis release their lowest selling album, Standing on the Shoulders of Giants

June 2004

With only Liam and Noel Gallagher left as the original members of the band, Oasis headline the Glastonbury festival.

May 2005

Oasis release their 6th album, Don’t Believe The Truth.

February 14 2008

Gallagher marries Nicole Appleton at Westminster Register Office in London, the same venue as his first marriage to Patsy Kensit.

August 2009

Liam and Noel Gallagher have a back-stage fight after which a statement is released announcing that Oasis have split. Liam and the remaining members of the band continue making music as Beady Eye.

March 2010

Liam Gallagher has been named the greatest frontman of all time, beating competition from Freddie Mercury, Bono and John Lennon in a magazine poll.

February 2011

Beady Eye release their debut album, Different Gear, Still Speeding

June 2013

Beady Eye release their second album, BE

April 2014

Gallagher and Appleton’s divorce is finalised

October 2014

Beady Eye split.

May 2017

Liam Gallagher releases new single Wall of Glass. The track reaches number 60 on the Official UK Charts on 2 June, just one day after its release, but peaks at number 21 following Gallagher's performance at Ariana Grande’s One Love Manchester concert.

June 2017

Gallagher announces his latest album, As You Were, will be released in October 2017 and will be followed by a North American tour.

July 2017

Gallagher delivers a 13-song set of Oasis classics and an As You Were solo set at surprise gig at the McKittrick Hotel in New York

August 2017

Liam Gallagher is announced as the headlining act for November 2017’s Party in the Park at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre on Friday 10 November.
