Fourteen years after she was forced to abandon her headline slot due to breast cancer, Kylie Minogue will finally get her Glastonbury moment.

The Australian songstress has been announced for the Sunday afternoon legend slot at the Somerset music festival, which is set to return to Worthy Farm in June following a year off.

The festival officially confirmed the booking on Wednesday following months of speculation Minogue would play. Organiser Emily Eavis had already confirmed the slot had been given to a “non-British female”.

“We are delighted to announce that Kylie is finally bringing her show to Glastonbury,” says a tweet from the official Glastonbury account. “She'll play the legendary Sunday afternoon slot at next year's festival. And we cannot wait.”

Minogue also shared the news, saying: “I’m so thrilled to announce that I’ll be playing the ‘Legend slot’ on Sunday 30th June at @GlastoFest 2019. It will be 14 years since I was originally meant to appear there and so much has happened up to now. I can’t wait to see you all there to share this special show.”

She is only the second act to be confirmed for the 2019 festival, after UK grime star Stormzy was named as first headliner, to mixed reaction.

The full line up is set to be released in the spring.
