Lamar has pulled out for personal reasons
J Cole replaces Kendrick Lamar at Abu Dhabi F1 after-race concerts
J Cole will replace Kendrick Lamar, who has pulled out of the Abu Dhabi F1 after race concert series because of “personal reasons”.
“Due to the circumstances beyond the promoters’ control, Lamar won’t be performing due to personal reasons, and J Cole has been lined up to join DJ Calvin Harris playing Thursday, UK-based rockers Mumford & Sons playing on Saturday with global icon Pink closing out the weekend on Sunday,” Yas Marina Circuit and Flash Entertainment said on Wednesday.
The organisers said - for the first time - they would offer one-day passes for Friday at Dh395, which provide access to Abu Dhabi hill, the F1 fanzone and the after-race show with J Cole.
This option will also provide ticket holders the opportunity to experience Thursday’s festivities, which includes the F1 Fanzone and the post-race performance by Harris.
Jermaine Lamarr Cole, or J Cole, is a platinum-listed, hip hop producer and recording artist. He was born in Germany at a US military base, but raised in North Carolina.
His first mixtape debut came in 2007 and, four years later, J Cole was nominated for his first Grammy as Best New Artist.
He will perform at the du Arena tracks from his latest album, 4 Your Eyez Only, which debuted at No 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and reached platinum sales in April.
To attend the four Yasalam after-race concert performances it is necessary to purchase a ticket for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
