We came across this cover of Dido's White Flag by former Dubai resident Alman Nusrat and felt we had to share because it's just that beautiful.
Nusrat, who was born and raised in the United States, started singing at the age of 12 and writing at the age of 14.
His interest in music came after listening to A is for Allah by Yusuf Islam.
After the death of his father, Nusrat moved to Los Angeles to pursue his musical dream. A year later he moved to Dubai, where he had the chance to work people directly associated with Islam, as he explained in an Instagram post recently:
"I feel incredibly lucky to have spent time with this legend and learn from him and his team what true artistry and service is about. I learnt from him to be authentic, out of the box, sincere, and above all, God conscious!"
"A big part of who I am is my faith, and through music I hope to provide something for people that facilitates the journey of their hearts and souls. Music is a universal language and I want to explore music that can appeal to people of many backgrounds. The vision, in short, is inspired by Yusuf/Cat Stevens and his gracious transformation as an artist and place as a mentor," the 26-year-old singer told The National.
The singer is currently living in the UK and working with Sakinah, an arts and culture label based in the UK.
"I hope to return to return to Dubai as it’s such a beautiful place and my stay there was very pleasant. I enjoyed the diversity of people and culture of acceptance," he says.
