On 13 July, 1985, acts including Queen, The Who and David Bowie took to the stage to raise funds to tackle the Ethiopian famine.

The benefit concert Live Aid is now legendary: it was filmed across the US and UK, attracting an estimated global audience of 1.9 billion.

And now, 35 years later, some of the music industry's biggest names are banding together once again for a charitable cause.

One World: Together at Home is a special concert designed to celebrate the healthcare workers around the world battling the coronavirus pandemic on the front lines.

Organised by international advocacy organisation Global Citizen and the World Health Organisation, the concert features a line-up of acts curated by Lady Gaga.

Here's everything you need to know about One World, and how you can watch it from the UAE.

When is it?

The show will kick off at 5pm Pacific Daylight Time on Saturday, April 18 in the US, which equates to 4am on Sunday, April 19 here in the UAE. Each performer in the concert is being filmed separately, in order to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Who is performing?

It's a star-studded bill, with Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Lady Gaga, Elton John, Lizzo and Coldplay's Chris Martin on the line-up.

The legendary Alanis Morissette, Andrea Bocelli, Billie Eilish and John Legend are all also scheduled to perform. Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Burna Boy, Finneas, J Balvin, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban and Maluma round out the musical acts set to treat viewers to a show.

"The artist order will not be released ahead of time, be sure to tune in to make sure you don’t miss a moment," the One World website says.

Who is hosting?

US chat show hosts Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert will all help helm One World, with additional appearances expected from a wealth of famous faces.

David Beckham, Kerry Washington, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Shah Rukh Khan are also named on the concert line-up

Can I stream the show online?

Yes, and in a number of ways. The concert's website states that live streams will be available on social media sites YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, although it does not confirm what time streaming will start. We'd recommend following Global Citizen's social media accounts for the most up-to-date information.

"Stay tuned – we'll update this section when we know more about the specific timings of these events," the FAQ section regarding streaming details.

The show will also be broadcast on platforms including Amazon Prime Video, Alibaba, Twitch and Tidal though, again, times have not yet been confirmed.

How else can I watch it?

If you have access to US networks, One World will be broadcast on CBS, ABC and NBC between 5pm and 7pm PDT (4am and 6am GST). In the UK, the concert will air on the BBC1 on Sunday, April 19 from 7.45pm (10.45pm GST), and will be available on BBC's iPlayer. International broadcasters beIN Media Group, MultiChoice Group and RTE will also air the show.

What is the show raising funds for?

One World has been created to benefit the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund, though it is not seeking to raise funds on the night.

Lady Gaga announced the concert shortly after revealing the fund had already raised more than $35 million (Dh128.5m) in donations.

“Put your wallets away … and sit back and enjoy the show you all deserve,” she said regarding the broadcast.
