The international pop phenomenon is to appear at Dubai Word Trade Centre in November.
Gotye announces Dubai concert
The man responsible for one of the year's biggest hits is coming to Dubai for his debut performance in the Middle East.
His track Somebody That I Used To Know is an international pop phenomenon. Having sold nine million copies and topping the charts in 18 countries, the song has been a constant on the radio, and you now have the chance to hear the Belgian-Australian singer-songwriter Gotye perform it live at the Dubai World Trade Centre on November 23.
His third album Making Mirrors sold 1.5 million copies.
Somebody That I Used To Know has been stubbornly lodged on top of the US charts for more than five consecutive weeks. The song has even been covered on the US television shows Glee, The Voice and American Idol.
A five-time winner of the Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards, the 32-year-old Gotye, real name Wouter de Backer, has described himself in an interview with NPR as "less of a musician, more of a tinkerer".
In his Dubai show, he will perform other songs from the album, including his new single Eyes Wide Open. Last week saw him release the album Somebody That I Used To Know: The Remixes, comprising ten remixes. One wonders if Gotye will render the hit more than once when he comes over.
