Flamenco pop legend Andre Reyes leads the next round of Dubai Opera's virtual concerts.
The singer and guitarist will front his version of the successful group Gipsy Kings (the official name is Gipsy Kings by Andre Reyes) in one of six new concerts announced. Here are the gigs coming your way on Dubai Opera’s social media accounts.
Thursday, June 18: Okiem (8pm on Facebook and YouTube)
Pianist fusing the classical with the modern. The composer, who lives in the UK, plays orchestral arrangements that incorporates ambient sounds and synthesisers. Okiem's gig will feature tracks from his debut album Xiro.
Saturday, June 20: Gipsy Kings by Andre Reyes (8pm on Facebook and YouTube)
Bamboleio away with singer, guitarist and one of the founders of the group Gipsy Kings. The French singer will perform the hits as well as traditional and popular elements of flamenco and rumba music.
Weekly on Mondays: The Green Room Jazz Club series (7pm on Instagram)
A virtual “pop-up jazz club” will feature a host of artists performing intimate sets from the Dubai Opera Studio. Styles include jazz, blues and funk. Check out the venue’s social media channels closer to the date for each week’s acts.
Thursday, June 25: Sandra Sahi from At the Top – Burj Khalifa (6pm on Instagram)
Live from the popular tourist site, the Iraqi-Belgian singer, 20, will showcase her international blend of RnB with original tracks performed in English, French and Arabic.
Wednesday, July 1: Isabel Canada Luna (8pm on Facebook and YouTube)
The Spanish soprano will perform some classic arias. A seasoned talent, Luna already graced the stages Konzerthaus Berlin, the Berliner Philharmonie, Madrid's Teatro Real and the Abu Dhabi National Theatre.
Thursday, July 2: Noon Band (7pm on Instagram)
The Lebanese-Indian-Cypriot Greek trio are a trip. Describing their sound as "Experimental oriental", their tracks feature various flavours such as funk grooves, African and Indian percussions and dollops of electronica.
