The novelty of the pop-singer Rebecca Black may have worn off, but the 14-year-old remains the top topic when it comes to social media.

According to Twitter's measure for the first six months of 2011, Black topped Britney Spears's latest album Femme Fatal, the pop star Justin Bieber, the fallen television star Charlie Sheen - as well as the hashtag for one of his now famous catchphrases #tigerblood.

Despite the celebrity meltdown of Sheen and the loss of the rapper Nate Dogg (which came fifth), Black's viral pop sensation Friday, her legal battle with her record label over the video for the song that saw it removed from YouTube, and appearing in Katy Perry's T.G.I.F music video, kept her Twitter profile high. Black's achievement, with 37,000 followers as opposed to Lady Gaga's 10.7 million, also flies against the industry notion that more Twitter followers results in more media exposure.

Other top tens include the Brazilian mixed martial artist Anderson Silva and the popular children's cartoon Tom and Jerry.

The list was released as Twitter celebrated its latest milestone of 200 million tweets per day.

"For perspective, every day, the world writes the equivalent of a 10 million-page book in Tweets or 8,163 copies of Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace," the site reported. "What's in them? Everything about every topic imaginable - whether it's a unique bird's-eye view of the Shuttle launch as seen from an airplane window or cheers of support for soccer teams in this year's Champions League tournament."
