Taking a break from his acting job, which in the last few years had him playing a gritty cop in the BBC drama Luther and the late South African leader Nelson Mandela in the biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom the British actor Idris Elba will be spinning the decks as guest DJ in the Dubai’s newest club Gotha. The 45-year-old’s set list is often eclectic with elements of rock, electro, grime and hip-hop all thrown into the mix.

Fetty Wap at Mad on Yas Island

Is he actually rapping or singing? No matter, as Fetty Wap has one of the most distinctive voices in modern hip-hop. Ever since landing on the scene with his 2015 debut single Trap Queen, the 26-year-old US rapper has been racking up the hit singles including My Way and 679. May 3, Mad on Yas Island. From 11pm. Oliver Heldens at Zero Gravity

The Dutch DJ and producer has built his career steadily ever since announcing himself with the 2013 single Geko. The 23-year-old performed in nearly all of the major dance music festivals including Tomorrowland, Creamfields and Stereosonic with his blend of future and tech house landing him a slot in the prestigious DJ Mag Top 100 poll every year since 2014.

Groove on The Grass

The electronic dance music festival hosts its final edition before the summer break with a smattering of international Djing talent including the smooth synth sounds of German electronic artist Apparat and a live performance by Austrian dance minimalists HVOB. As well as the tasteful selection of music, Groove on the Grass is also renowned for its vibrant market stalls full of work by local and regional designers and artists.

Example at Nasimi Beach

The popular open-air club is set to close its doors, but not before throwing one last big bash. This time around the guest of honour is the British DJ Example who over the years proved to be a UAE favourite with his high energy shows featuring hits Changed The Way You Kiss Me and Kickstarts.
