Assala and Sherine Abdel Wahab will headline the latest batch of shows at Sharjah's Al Majaz Amphitheatre.

The two pop singers will come together for a formidable double bill on February 19 at the picturesque venue, located at Sharjah's corniche.

Both artists will return to the emirate with a hefty catalogue of hits amassed over two decades.

For Syrian singer Assala (full name Assala Nasri), the venue is a fine setting for her elegant take on Arabic popular music, including big ballads, such as Ma Asameh, and the Levantine folk stylings of Aktar.

Renowned for her output, which has seen her release more than 20 albums and embark on a hefty pre-pandemic touring schedule, Assala's career is defined by her strong work ethic.

In a previous interview with The National, she described her full-throttled approach to her work. "I don't feel that my music is stagnant. It's the opposite. Mentally, I have the same passion and excitement as the days when I first started," she said.

As for Abdel Wahab, the Egyptian singer returns to the UAE fresh from a Dubai Shopping Festival concert last December.

With no new material released since last June's single, Keda, fans can expect a greatest hits set full of charming pop tracks, including Sabri Aleel and Hobbo Ganna.

Iraqi music night

The concert will be preceded by a show on Friday, February5, featuring a trio of Iraqi artists: Ali Jassim, Mustafa Al-Abdullah and Mahmood Al Turki.

Expect big singalongs when Jassim performs his successful singles Yama Al Shok and Oreed As'alak. Al-Abdullah and Al Turki will also take to the stage with hits of their own, including Ya Kuni and Domni, respectively.

Tickets for both concerts begin from Dh100, available at sharjah.platinumlist.net
