Childish Gambino, Tame Impala and Ariana Grande have been announced as the headliners for this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2019.

Overnight (January 3), Coachella dropped the big names booked for this year's event one by one on its Twitter account. From Solange to Diplo, Blackpink to Aphex Twin, Janelle Monae to The 1975, there will be acts to suit all music tastes.

Coachella is in its 20th year, having been founded in 1999. As it wasn't held in 2000, however, the 2019 festival is its 19th iteration. It will be held over the weekends during April 12-14 and April 19-21 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, US.

In the weeks leading up to the reveal, it was widely rumoured that Kanye West would perform, but, according to TMZ, "negotiations fell apart" over the size of the stage, which West felt would be "artistically limiting".

Last year's headliners included Beyonce, The Weeknd and Eminem.

The advanced ticket sale took place in June 2018, but what passes are now left will go on sale on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11pm UAE time (11am Pacific time).

Many fans were excited by the line-up, particularly the inclusion of Blackpink, which becomes the first female K-pop act to play at the music and arts festival.

Others, however, weren't so impressed."This is the most trash #Coachella line up I've ever seen," wrote one Twitter user. "Selling both of my tickets!!!"
