Dubai Festival City will come alive next month with a jazz bill featuring big names.
After revealing major pop and rock headliners, including Carlos Santana, the Dubai Jazz Festival has announced acts true to the genre.
Jazz luminaries including the Grammy-Award winning guitarist Larry Carlton, the pianist Billy Childs and the trumpeter Sean Jones are some of the names headlining the event’s Jazz Garden The Legends Edition at Festival Park in Dubai Festival City.
Running from February 13, 14 and 19, 20, the Legends Edition will take place in parallel with the main gigs and with a lone up catering exclusively catering to jazz heads. Other names rounding off the Jazz Garden bill include the acclaimed drummer Al Foster, the hard-bop jazz saxophonist Steve Grossman, the flautist Nestor Torres and the Hungarian saxophonist Tony Lakatos.
During the weekdays from February 15 to 18, the Jazz Garden The Weekdays Edition swing into action and is open to the public via online registration from the festival’s website.
The festival organiser Anthony Younes said the concept has been a hit since launching six years ago.
“We offer a terrific atmosphere and a unique jazz environment that jazz and blues music aficionados look forward to,” he said. “We are excited about this addition to our festival and believe we will see jazz lovers from across the region come along to tap their toes.”
The Jazz Garden is located in a specially built venue away from the sprawling main stage, which will see performances by the guitarist Santana, the pianist Jamie Cullum and the rockers Stone Temple Pilots over the eight-day festival.
