Alongside Timbaland, will.i.am and Selena Gomez from the international arena, two of the biggest names from Bollywood will give Dubai Music Week’s audiences a taste of Indian music.

The event, dubbed Bollywood Night with Farhan & Pritam, will feature the multitalented producer, director, actor and musician Farhan Akhtar alongside Pritam (a name synonymous with Bollywood music) and a trio of playback singers.

“For us, it was extremely exciting to have Farhan on board. He is the new generation’s Bollywood icon,” said Taymoor Marmarchi, the executive director of Global Gumbo Group and Quincy Jones Company, the organisers of Dubai Music Week.

“To have him in Dubai to perform is simply amazing, and to do that alongside Pritam – with his great musical legacy – this will be a phenomenal show.”

Marmarchi said that Dubai Music Week is all about bringing together music from every community represented in Dubai and that the Bollywood concert serves a key demographic.

Akhtar will be performing with his band Farhan Akhtar Live, while Pritam will present his music through a selection of Bollywood’s finest singers: Mohit Chauhan, Benny Dayal and Arijit Singh.

The three will perform hits from Pritam’s decade-long contribution to Bollywood, from 2004’s Dhoom to this year’s Yeh Jawaaani Hai Deewani. While Dayal, who grew up in Abu Dhabi, and Singh are relative newbies in the industry, Chauhan is a two-time recipient of the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer.

• Bollywood Night with Farhan & Pritam is on Saturday at the Dubai World Trade Centre Arena. Gates open at 7pm and the concert starts at 8pm. Tickets, priced at Dh400 for Golden Circle and Dh200 for General Admission, can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.ae
