Lindsay Lohan is headed to rehab

Lindsay Lohan isn’t headed back to jail – but she won’t be able to party for a while, either. The troubled 26-year-old actress accepted a plea deal on Monday in a misdemeanour car-crash case that includes 90 days in a locked-down rehabilitation facility. The deal includes community labour and psychological therapy. Before the actress left the courtroom, the judge offered her advice: “Don’t drive.” Lohan arrived nearly an hour late for the proceedings and was showered with confetti as she passed through a barrage of media to enter the courthouse. – AP

Timberlake confirms follow-up album

Justin Timberlake celebrated the release of his new album The 20/20 Experience with a lively show in Los Angeles on Monday, whetting fans’ appetites by saying he would release more new music soon. “I’ve got to clear up the rumours. This whole thing about this only being the first part is true. There is another half. I’m not giving you a release date,” he said. Earlier in the day, media outlets reported that the Roots drummer Questlove said Timberlake would release a second volume of music in November this year. – Reuters

Katie Holmes hopes 2013 is ‘peaceful’

Katie Holmes refuses to talk about her split from Tom Cruise but hopes this year will be better than the last. Featured in the April issue of Allure magazine, the actress said that she wants 2013 to be “a peaceful year for a lot of people”. Holmes, 34, says she’s “open” to the idea of expanding her family in the future. Holmes, who has a 6-year-old daughter with Cruise, filed for divorce last June after five years of marriage. – AP

Band debuts single in space

The rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars, fronted by the actor Jared Leto, wanted the announcement for their new album to be out of this world. And that’s where their first single debuted. Up in the Air was sent to the International Space Station for an exclusive listening on Monday. The new album, Love Lust Faith + Dreams, will be out on May 21. A CD containing the song was launched on a Falcon 9 rocket from Florida on March 1. A conversation between the astronaut Tom Marshburn from the International Space Station and Leto will be available on both the band’s and Nasa’s websites. – AP
