Liam Gallagher is set to perform at this year’s Party in the Park.

The popular annual festival will take place at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre on Friday, November 10.

More acts will be revealed at a later date.

The Brit pop icon and former Oasis front-man will return to UAE on the back of his debut solo album As You Were, which is set for release on October 6.

Intriguingly, the album finds the 44-year-old sharing song-writing duties with a pair of producers who collaborated with artists Gallagher reportedly disdains.

Greg Kurstin is the American pop maestro of the moment, having worked with the likes of Adele, Kelly Clarkson and Sia. While the UK's Dan Grech-Marguerat lent his production talents to Radiohead, a band the colourfully outspoken singer consistently criticised and who memorably blasted in 2011 for writing a song about a 1000-year-old tree in Wiltshire.

“You’d have thought he’d have written a song about a modern tree or one that was planted last week. You know what I mean?” Gallagher said.

The new approach seems to work, however. The two songs released so far from As You Were are some of the strongest material Gallagher released since Oasis.

Wall of Glass is an assured and stylish lead single with its swaggering guitars, harmonica and Gallagher’s sneer in fine form.

While Chinatown, released last month, is a more soulful and meditative effort with its soft drum shuffle and acoustic guitars. Unfortunately, it also illustrates why his older brother – and public nemesis – Noel, wrote nearly all the lyrics for Oasis. Chinatown boasts some truly nonsensical wordplay such as “well the cops are taking over, while everyone’s in yoga, because happiness is still a warm gun.”

Gallagher is currently on a promotional tour for As You Were and has recently put on a rousing set at last month’s mammoth Glastonbury Festival in England.

The set-list from that show fulfilled Gallagher’s promise to add more Oasis tunes into his latest tour with classics including Rock’n’Roll Star, Morning Glory, Slide Away and Don’t Look Back in Anger.

That will go some way in assuaging some of the heartache felt by fans when Oasis split acrimoniously before a festival show in Paris in 2009.

In the wake of the split, Gallagher formed Beady Eye with remaining members of Oasis, who released two albums, but failed to garner considerable interest from the public. Beady Eye came to Abu Dhabi in 2011 for a performance at the Du Forum and broke up in 2014.

Gallagher upcoming Dubai headlining set cements Party in The Park’s reputation in bringing popular UK acts to the region. The festival’s inaugural edition in 2014 featured Lily Allen, the following year saw The Stereophonics and Razorlight while last year featured the triple bill of the Kaiser Chiefs, Travis and The Charlatans.

Expect a few more vintage British guitar groups in the next announcement.
