Lady Gaga cancels shows after injury

Lady Gaga says she's "heartsick" to postpone four shows after sustaining an injury that's left her unable to walk. Her shows in the US and Canada this week have been postponed due to a case of synovitis, a severe joint inflammation. Gaga said on Twitter she injured herself during a performance some time ago and her condition has worsened, leaving her immobile. "I've been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now, over the last month it has worsened," she wrote. "I've been praying it would heal." * AP

Alec Baldwin and wife expecting

Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria are expecting their first child together. Baldwin is already the father of a 17-year-old daughter, Ireland, from his previous marriage to Kim Basinger. Hilaria is a special correspondent for the TV show Extra. The couple married last June. * AP

Cruz having second baby with Bardem

Also expecting a baby are Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem. The 38-year-old Cruz and 43-year-old Bardem had their first child, a boy called Leo, in January 2011. The couple became romantically involved after appearing together in Woody Allen's 2008 film Vicky Cristina Barcelona and later married. * AP

Salman to host Star Guild Awards

Salman Khan is set to host the eighth edition of the Renault Star Guild Awards, the first time the star has emceed an awards ceremony. He will take to the stage on Saturday at the Yas Raj Studios for an event that honours achievements in cinema and television, with several famous names expected to attend. The awards are a joint initiative by the Film and Producers Guild and Wizcraft International Entertainment. * IANS

Akshay Kumar wants baddie roles

With the action, comedy and thriller genres already in the bag, Akshay Kumar says he's keen to take a darker route. "I admire villain roles, I would love to play a villain," he told reporters while celebrating the success of his latest release Special 26, adding that he's also keen on regional cinema. "I am producing a Marathi and a Punjabi film." * IANS

Bieber slammed by Black Keys

Justin Bieber, who was passed over for a Grammy nomination this year, is also not getting respect from The Black Keys. Patrick Carney, the drummer of the seven-time Grammy-winning rock duo, told TMZ: "The Grammys are for music and not for money. And he's making a lot of money. He should be happy." Bieber later tweeted, "The Black Keys drummer should be slapped around haha." * IANS
