US rapper Kid Ink has promised a show like no other when he takes to the stage at RedfestDXB.

The Show Me singer has visited the UAE twice before, most recently with gigs at People by Crystal in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai in August 2013.

But all Kid Ink’s previous appearances have been intimate – and short – club sets. And the heavily tattooed rhyme-smith says he’s looking forward to stretching things out in front of a larger crowd – and dropping a longer set – at tonight’s (Thursday February 12) festival slot at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre.

“Last time was cool, man, but the last couple of times its just been clubs – this is actually a show, so I’m actually excited,” said Ink, chatting at the Westin Dubai.

“I’m backed up by the DJ ... and the crowd. I think once I’m up there it’s all about seeing the limits of what I can do with the stage and the crowd – for me it’s all about mixing it up and making it fun there.

“I’ve got surprises, some guests, some friends onstage.”

Kid Ink – who released his new album Full Speed on February 3 – has previously collaborated with co-headliner Tinashe.

However, when asked who he was looking forward to seeing most over the two-day event, Ink was more interested in the background talent than the stars on the mic.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the DJs,” he added. “They always have the most stuff going on, the most surprises, they always have to do something more than the vocals with the music – they have to make it fun for the crowd.

“I like to steal tips from the DJs.”
