Kapoor family star in new comedy

Ranbir Kapoor next’s film is a family affair. The actor will star alongside his parents, Rishi and Neetu Kapoor, in the Bollywood comedy Besharam, directed by Abhinav Kashyap. “Working with mom and dad was a great experience. It’s the first time we’ve done a movie together. It is always fun to work with family. My father bullies the director and it’s fun to watch him,” said the 30-year-old star. “It’s also a learning experience for me.” The Rockstar and Barfi! actor said he’s not resting on his laurels and fans should expect more from him this year. “I have miles to go and lots of films to do,” said Kapoor. “My parents are proud of my work; this is my biggest achievement.” Besharam is scheduled to release in October. – IANS

Jon Hamm shooting new film in India

Jon Hamm has begun shooting his new film, Disney’s Million Dollar Arm, in Mumbai. Hamm stars as the sports agent J?B Bernstein who discovers two Indian teenagers and signs them up to play baseball. “This is so cool and yet so weird – Jon Hamm playing me in a movie – this shoot has begun,” Bernstein wrote on Twitter, posting a picture of Hamm in the Indian city. A member of the film crew confirmed on Tuesday that shooting was under way in Mumbai’s northern suburbs. Hamm, 42, has also been spotted out on the town posing with fans and dining with the Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, according to local media reports. Due to release next year, Million Dollar Arm is based on a true story and directed by Craig Gillespie. It also stars the Indian actor Suraj Sharma. – AFP

Ayushmann Khurrana might host The Bachelorette India

Ayushmann Khurrana has been approached to host The Bachelorette India Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika. Sources claim Khurrana is the production’s second choice after the actor Ronit Roy rejected the offer because of a busy film schedule. Khurrana, 28, made his Bollywood debut in Shoojit Sircar’s 2012 romantic comedy Vicky Donor. His most recent project was last month’s Nautanki Saala. To be screened in August, The Bachelorette India is based on the US reality show. The TV network Life OK said the programme will have an Indian flavour with a few twists. – IANS

Salma Agha returns to directing

Salma Agha announced her return to the director’s chair with her next feature film. The Pakistani actress and singer did not reveal the subject matter but described it as “women-orientated”. “All I can say is it’s in the pipeline,” said Agha, 51. Asked why she decided to put on the director’s hat again, Agha replied: “I don’t like to waste time. I always want to learn something.” Agha debuted in Bollywood with the 1982 drama Nikaah and has recorded countless songs for movie soundtracks. – IANS
