So, how long have you lived in Dubai?

It’s the question everyone gets asked sooner or later when they meet someone new. And the answer has made its way to Twitter as residents use the hashtag #IveBeenInDubaiSince to share some of their favourite memories of the emirate.

From photos of Sheikh Zayed Road before the skyscrapers, to visiting celebrities and reminiscing about cheap chicken shawarmas and Dh1 abra rides, residents both current and former have taken to the social media site to get seriously nostalgic.

Along with minimum cab fares of Dh3.50, and the Hard Rock Cafe on Sheikh Zayed Road marking the "end" of Dubai city, residents also recalled a time when petrol was cheaper than water and Dixi Cola was the fizzy drink of choice.

History buffs will love the photos being shared of the changing face of the emirate, with old images of the Marina, Trade Centre roundabout, Deira City Centre and Lamcy Plaza all cropping up, along with fond memories of when the Dubai World Trade Centre was the tallest building in the city.
