Hindustani music lovers will be taken down memory lane with a special evening of classical melodies by musicians Dr K Krishnakumar and Binni Krishnakumar at the Indian Consulate Auditorium in Dubai next month.

The Chennai-based husband and wife duo will be performing in the distinct style of Balamurali Krishna, a famous Indian musician known for a fusion of Hindustani and Carnatic music, on February 2.

The tribute concert will see his disciples accompanied by violinist Shreya Devnath and Dubai-based musician Venkatesh Veeramony on the Mridangam (double-sided drum)

Dr Krishnakumar is a Carnatic vocalist with a doctorate in music. He has turned with Balamuralikrishna for more than 100 concerts and recordings in India and internationally. He is also a playback singer and music composer for Malayalam films.

His wife, Binni, is a popular Tamil movie singer who got her break in superstar Rajini Kanth’s Chandramuki. She has sung in

more than 70 feature film and in 200 music albums in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada for prominent music composers in India.
