Daniel Craig won’t be leaving any of his fortune to his children when he dies. The James Bond actor, who is reported to have a net worth of more than $180 million (Dh661 million), said he finds the idea of inheritance distasteful.
"My philosophy is to get rid of it or give it away before you go," Craig, 52, said in an interview with UK magazine Saga. "I don't want to leave great sums to the next generation."
Craig is the father to two children. He welcomed a baby daughter in 2018 with actress wife Rachel Weisz. Craig also has daughter Ella, 28, from his previous marriage, and is a stepfather to Weisz’s 13-year-old son, Henry, from her previous relationship with filmmaker Darren Aronofsky.
Craig is one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood and has spent the last decade as the reigning James Bond. He has played the 007 agent for five films. His tenure as the British superspy will conclude with No Time To Die, which also stars Lashana Lynch and Rami Malek.
The upcoming Bond film was due to hit theatres next month but its release was postponed to November as several high-profile events across the world were cancelled or postponed over coronavirus fears. Cinemas have been shut and public gatherings restricted in several countries to help control the spread of the pandemic. Earlier this month, producers said the decision to delay the film was made after "careful consideration and thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace".
The postponement comes after a string of unrelenting challenges and obstacles for the development of 25th Bond film, including scheduling conflicts and uncertainty whether Craig would reprise his role as the world’s most famous Secret Service man.
