A new Etisalat  commercial starring Sir Rowan Atkinson of Mr Bean fame has already garnered over 2.2 million views on YouTube since it was uploaded a week ago.

As a sly agent looking for his next task, Atkinson heads to numerous areas around the UAE: he goes underwater in Fujairah and to the top of the Burj Khalifa, but is still unsuccessful. Why? Because in order to get his next mission, Agent One (as he’s called) needs to find a spot without Etisalat coverage.

In the 1.30-minute video, the agent tries to escape by going around the Emirates including to the Abu Dhabi desert, the mangroves of Sharjah and even to the mountaintops of Ras Al Khaimah. However, he is still unable to lose coverage. We see what they're doing there.

The agent character is a far cry from Atkinson's famous Mr Bean persona. For those unfamiliar, the fictional comedic character rarely speaks and uses childlike and sometimes obnoxious manners to convey his message.

However, even though it is not spelled out, the video has a semblance to the Johnny English agent character that Atkinson has played in the past. The third film in the series is set to be released later this year.

This is not the first time Etisalat has recruited international celebrities for an advert. In 2015, they featured Hollywood star Gerard Butler, Pakistani singer-actor Atif Aslam, Filipina star Lea Salonga and Bollywood's Hrithik Roshan in an impressive celeb-packed video.
