The 77th Venice International Film Festival, which will take place in September, has announced Tunisian film producer Dora Bouchoucha as one of its jury members.
Bouchoucha, who is one of Tunisia's first female film producers and known for her work on Dear Son and Hedi, will serve as a jury member for the Luigi De Laurentiis Venice Award for Debut Film.
Joining Bouchoucha on the jury will be French artistic director Remi Bonhomme, while Italian filmmaker Claudio Giovannesi will serve as president.
Australian actress Cate Blanchett will head the Competition jury and will be joined by directors Veronika Franz, Joanna Hogg, Christian Petzold, Cristi Puiu, writer Nicola Lagioia and actress Ludivine Sagnier as jury members.
The Orizzonti (Horizons) jury will be presided over by director Claire Denis, with jury members Oskar Alegria, Francesca Comencini, Katriel Schory and Christine Vachon.
The Virtual Reality jury will be headed by Celine Tricart, with Asif Kapadia and Hideo Kojima as jury members.
Venice is the first major international film festival to have a physical presence since the coronavirus outbreak, which led festivals around the world to postpone events or put on virtual programmes.
It will open with Lacci (The Ties) by Rome-born director Daniele Luchetti. This is the first time in 11 years that an Italian film has opened the festival.
