It may well be one of his biggest career regrets, but Will Smith has proven that he can still laugh at himself, as he shares a fan-made video imaging what could have been, had he taken the role of Neo in The Matrix.
The actor and rapper has shared the video, in which his face replaces that of Keanu Reeves' in the acclaimed sci-fi franchise.
In a comment captioning the fan-made video, Smith joked, "Now imagine Keanu in Wild Wild West."
Since the 1999 movie was released, Smith has spoken out about passing the role up, chosing instead to star in Wild Wild West.
In a separate video posted on Smith’s YouTube channel, he explains in three minutes and 18 seconds why he he turned it down, confirming something of a long-time movie industry rumour.
"This is one of [those] stories ... I'm not proud of, but it's the truth, I did turn down Neo in The Matrix," Smith says in the video.
