Shah Rukh Khan and his oldest son Aryan will be adding to their joint acting credits when they voice another father-son duo – Mufasa and Simba – in the Hindi version of The Lion King.

"As a father, I can totally relate with Mufasa and the endearing relationship he shares with his son – Simba. The legacy of Lion King is timeless; and being a part of this iconic re-imagining with my son Aryan makes it extra special for me. We are most excited that AbRam (Khan's youngest son) is going to watch this," Khan said in a statement.

Ahead of the India vs Pakistan cricket match, the Bollywood star shared a photo of him and his son donning t-shirts in Indian team colours, with ‘Mufasa’ and ‘Simba’ written on the back:

But it's not the first time the pair have worked together. The duo voiced characters in the Hindi version of The Incredibles back in 2004 and were also in a film together, when Aryan played a younger version of his father's character, in 2001's Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

The Lion King is part of Disney’s ongoing slate of live action remakes of its animated classics, and is aimed at making sure Disney remains king of the box office.

The English version of the film has an all-star cast that includes Donald Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Oliver, Seth Rogan, Billy Eichner and Beyonce.

Directed by Jon Favreau — who helmed Iron Man and The Jungle Book — Disney's The Lion King is scheduled to be released on July 19 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
