Ryan Reynolds scales UAE's Jebel Hafeet for 6 Underground
'Which way back to the hotel?' The actor has shared pictures of himself and the crew in Al Ain
Filming for 6 Underground has taken Ryan Reynolds and cast to one of the UAE's highest peaks.
The star posted a picture of himself on Instagram, sitting in a helicopter flanked by cast members Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Corey Hawkins in Al Ain.
In another shot, Reynolds is seen in deep discussion with 6 Underground director, Michael Bay, on a rocky outcrop on Jebel Hafeet, with Al Ain city in the background. In his customary tongue-in-cheek manner, Reynolds writes: “Discussing the best way to walk back to the hotel.”
Actor Ben Hardy, who stars in the recently released Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, has also shared a picture from the Al Ain shoot, although he seems to be struggling slightly with the UAE’s now reasonably temperate climes. “When it’s so hot you have to wear a scarf to cool down,” he posted, alongside this image.
The month-long shoot for thriller 6 Underground started on Reem Island and will take place at various locations across the UAE, including the Liwa desert, Abu Dhabi City, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah.
The Netflix film features a host of Hollywood stars, including Dave Franco, Melanie Laurent, Corey Hawkins, Adria Arjona, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Ben Hardy, Payman Maadi and Lior Raz.
When filming began, action director Michael Bay, who's known for The Rock and the Transformers franchise, said: “Abu Dhabi is a unique place to make a movie, with a lot of great looks. It’s got the diversity and architecture I need in front of the camera — plus the professional facilities, crew and infrastructure to back it up. I’m very excited to be shooting here over the next few weeks.”
