Priyanka Chopra and Mindy Kaling to team up for new Indian wedding comedy
The two actresses have described the partnership as a 'dream'
Priyanka Chopra and Mindy Kaling are teaming up for a new comedy film.
The actors will join forces alongside Brooklyn Nine-Nine writer Dan Goor for the wedding-themed movie, set to be released by Universal Pictures.
The film will be based on a ‘big fat Indian wedding’ – something Chopra knows a thing or two about after her lavish December wedding to singer Nick Jonas.
The film will be set between America and India – much like Chopra’s real-life romance – and is described as “Crazy Rich Asians meets My Big Fat Greek Wedding".
“Two women with a passion for telling good stories just got the green light to their story their way. So proud of this incredible partnership with Mindy Kaling and Goor! We are about to show you what it means to be modern, global and Indian. See you at the cinema,” Chopra said in a tweet.
Kaling, who will co-write the screenplay alongside Goor and reportedly have a hand in directing, said working alongside Chopra and Goor was a dream.
Sharing a picture with her 3.9 million Instagram followers, she said: “My dream team is making a movie. Can’t wait for this one!”
