Anyone who has seen The Thomas Crown Affair will understand that the sight of Pierce Brosnan in an art gallery is likely to make security guards twitchy. In the 1999 thriller, Brosnan played a billionaire, who entertained himself by stealing priceless works of art from major museums.

What, then, to make of this photograph of Brosnan at Louvre Abu Dhabi?

Well, we can all relax – the actor was simply visiting as part of his trip to Abu Dhabi, where he is about to start shooting The Misfits, an upcoming thriller, directed by Renny Harlin.

The former James Bond star will play renowned criminal Richard Pace, who finds himself caught up in an elaborate gold heist. Earlier today, Brosnan posted a video on his official Instagram page and described Louvre Abu Dhabi as "a masterpiece of design".

The Misfits will be produced by Kia Jam (Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For) and Dean Altit (Realms) and executive produced by Rami Jaber (Realms), who will also play the role of "The Prince". Jam's Los Angeles-based film company K Jam Media is the lead production banner behind the project.

"After visiting and scouting Abu Dhabi, we were blown away," said Jam. "We all agreed in order to do the film justice, production would have to take place primarily on location in Abu Dhabi rather than LA, and we set up our base at the spectacular Jumeirah at Etihad Towers."

Jamie Chung (Gotham) and British actress Hermione Corfield (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) will also appear in the film.

Brosnan also shared two videos from his Abu Dhabi hotel room, thanking the capital for the "most gracious welcome" (click to play):
