Pictures from the Saaho set: Prabhas says he 'can't wait to come back' to Abu Dhabi
The Indian tri-lingual blockbuster has now wrapped
The production of tri-lingual Indian action film Saaho has just wrapped in Abu Dhabi - the shoot took 40 days, with a crew of 450, and the blockbuster action scenes specifically took 20 days to shoot (so we can expect some great views of Abu Dhabi once the film comes out in 2019).
Baahubali leading man Prabhas - who is a megastar in India - had high praise for Abu Dhabi as a filming location: “What an incredible time we have had in Abu Dhabi. I have many friends in the industry who have shot here and told me all about the Emirate, however, it has surpassed even their high praise. I truly believe Abu Dhabi is one of the world’s best film locations and I can’t wait to come back.”
The actor told The National last month that it was amazing to be able to close roads and bridges just for the shoot: “It’s so rare to be able to get bridges and infrastructure and city locations like that,” he says. “But here was great. The team at twofour54 were really helpful. They gave us all the best roads, the best buildings, closed the roads we needed, whatever we wanted. It was a really smooth process and it’s hard to get that with these kind of scenes.”
"I don't think I've ever felt more welcome as a filmmaker anywhere in the world," said the film's director Sujeeth Reddy, who said that the shoot in the UAE capital has gone "seamlessly".
Saaho is the third major international movie to be partly shot in Abu Dhabi this year so far, after the latest in both the Mission Impossible and Race franchises. The emirate offers financial incentives for film shoots, such as a 30% rebate on production spend.
