After news broke of Disney having trouble casting for its leads in the live action remake of Aladdin, the studio announced overnight the spots had finally been determined.
The main role of Aladdin has been given to Hollywood newcomer Mena Massoud, while Naomi Scott will take on the role of Jasmine. Scott most recently appeared in the rebooted Power Rangers film as the pink ranger. The Genie will be played by Will Smith, while the role of villainous Jafar has yet to be cast.

According to Massoud's IMDb page, he's only been acting since 2011. The Egyptian-born, Canadian-raised actor was announced during the D23 Expo, a three-day fan convention in California.
More is known about the 24-year-old Scott, whose acting credentials include films The 33 and an appearance in the short-lived television series Terra Nova.
The film will be directed by Guy Ritchie. Disney has yet to release a date for the film itself but there are also other live-action reboots for its other beloved films such as Mulan, The Lion King and Dumbo.
