A remake planned for Bolly drama Masoom

Bedabrata Pain, who won India’s National Film award for his maiden venture Chittagong (2012), said he is in talks to direct a remake of the 1983 cult hit Masoom, the Deccan Herald reported. Shekhar Kapur’s film, starring Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi and Jugal Hansraj, is based on Erich Segal’s novel Man, Woman and Child. “I want to do it but it won’t be an exact remake of Masoom,” said Pain. “I am in discussion with the producers. I want to direct a movie based on Man, Woman and Child but it has to be a different take on the story.” Nawazuddin Siddiqui is reportedly being tapped for the lead role, but Pain refused to confirm the news. — The National staff
