We've had Freddie Mercury and Elton John, and now it's time to see Elvis Presley come to life on the big screen.

Baz Luhrmann is behind the new biopic and it's been reported that five young actors have been called in to test for the role, with Austin Butler, Ansel Elgort, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Harry Styles and Miles Teller all in the running. Styles is said to be the current front runner to portray the King.

Butler is known for his role in The Shannara Chronicles and has a part in Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood, while Elgort rose to fame in The Fault in our Stars; he has since starred in Divergent and Baby Driver. This wouldn't be the first biopic for Taylor-Johnson – the British actor starred as John Lennon in 2009 movie Nowhere Boy, which chronicled the Beatles' early years.

Styles is best known for being in British boy band One Direction, but showed off his acting chops in Oscar-nominated Second World War movie, Dunkirk. Teller became a household name following the success of 2014 music movie Whiplash, which tells the story of the cut-throat world of musical institutes.

Back in April this year, The National pegged Miles Teller as the perfect person to play Presley.

The currently untitled project has confirmed that Tom Hanks has been cast as Colonel Tom Parker, Presley's manager.

According to The Hollywood Reporter: "The movie is described as focusing on the late entertainer's rise and zenith, with a major aspect being his relationship with Parker."

Past Elvis Presley biopics

This won't be the first time Presley has been played in a film. In 1979, Kurt Russell played The King in Elvis, with Pat Hingle taking on the role of Colonel Tom Parker. Michael Shannon portrayed him in 2016's Elvis and Nixon and Don Johnson filled his blue suede shoes for 1981's Elvis and the Beauty Queen.
