Emilia Clarke praises 'breathtaking' Syrian documentary film in Instagram post
'This film is about life, death, and the fragile space between where humanity lives, breathes and survives,' wrote the award-winning British actress
British actress Emilia Clarke is asking fans to watch and support award-winning Syrian documentary For Sama.
Shot over five years from besieged Aleppo, the film follows the story of co-director Waad al-Kateab as she falls in love, gets married and has a baby girl called Sama.
"This film is about life, death, and the fragile space between where humanity lives, breathes and survives. These two are real life miracles," wrote Clarke. "Please watch and support this breathtaking work."
The actress also posted a photo with al-Kateab and her husband Dr. Hamza al-Kateab.
The film has already won top film awards including the Prix L’oeil d'Or for Best Documentary at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, the Grand Jury Award for Best Documentary at the SXSW Film Festival, the Special Jury Prize for International Feature Documentary at the Hot Docs Festival, the top prize at the British Independent Film Awards and the top award the International Documentary Association (IDA)’s IDA Documentary Awards at the International Documentary Awards.
