Egyptian actor Amr Waked is touted to appear in the much-anticipated sequel to 2017's smash-hit, Wonder Woman.

The Ramy star told fans on Twitter that he will make a cameo in Wonder Woman 1984, the follow-up due to hit screens next year.

"Wait for my appearance in the superhero film 1984 (Part II), directed by Patty Jenkins," the 46-year-old posted in Arabic.

Waked did not specify what role he would be playing, and he is not currently credited among the cast on Wonder Woman 1984's IMDb page.

The film, which features Gal Gadot in the titular role, is set to follow Diana Prince, Amazon princess and warrior, during the Cold War, where she comes up against a villainess by the name of Cheetah.

Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright will reprise their roles, while Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal and Bridesmaids actress Kristen Wiig will join the cast.

Waked, who has appeared in 2005's Syriana and 2014's Lucy, has drawn some criticism on Twitter for suggesting he will star alongside Gadot, an Israeli actress who has publicly supported and served in the Israel Defense Forces.

The first Wonder Woman film was banned in Lebanon due to Gadot's inclusion.
