A UAE rock band has put its chops to the test with pledge to share with fans “30 riffs in 30 days”.

Alternative trio Kicksound is counting down towards the release of their debut record by posting one video every day of the band playing a new riff – either a classic rock hook or one of their own compositions.

The campaign began today (October 15) with a cover of Guns n' Roses standard Welcome to the Jungle (hear it here).

Kicksound will launch their eponymous release on Friday, October 17 with a gig at Legends, in Dubai’s Chelsea Plaza Hotel.

The EP’s producer Elvis Garagic will make an appearance onstage with the band, as will Neil d’Cruz, frontman of well-known local rockers Nikotin. Meanwhile, support will come from established Colombian songstress Fatiniza.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Kicksound frontman Olly Ephgrave said: “This record has been a labour of love and we can’t wait to share it with our friends and fans.

“The EP is a taster of Kicksound and shows the full range of our music – from energetic, punk-influenced tracks to more groove-based, melodic rock.”

Earlier this year Kicksound won the Best English Language Act at the Zippo Encore Arabia Awards 2014.

The four-track release was recorded at Dubai’s SoundStruck Studios during the pass year, and will be available to buy at the gig.

Also look out for the trio live with a string of winter gigs planned in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, starting with sets at Gulf Bike Week, in Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, October 30-November 1.
